Devid Striesow

Devid Striesow completed his acting training at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts in Berlin.

On stage, Striesow has appeared, among other venues, at the Deutsches Schauspielhaus in Hamburg and the Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus. He maintained a long-standing collaboration with director Jürgen Gosch in particular, appearing for example in Gosch's Kleist productions of The Little Catherine of Heilbronn and Prince Friedrich of Homburg. For his interpretation of Wlas in Summerfolk, Striesow received the Alfred Kerr Prize in 2004 and was named Best Young Actor of the Year by the magazine Theater heute. He can currently be seen as Oedipus at the Deutsches Schauspielhaus Hamburg. Among Striesow's long-term theatre collaborations is his recurring work with Thorsten Lensing (The Brothers Karamazov, Infinite Jest, ...). In the summer of 2022, he premiered in Lensing's new production Crazy for Comfort as part of the Salzburg Festival.

Devid Striesow has appeared in leading roles in films such as Stefan Ruzowitzky's Oscar-winning The Counterfeiters (2007), Tom Tykwer's 3 (2010), I'm Off Then (2015), Franziska Stünkel's Nahschuss / The Last Execution (2021), and When Will It Finally Be the Way It Never Was Again (2023).

Television audiences also know him from Tatort, in which he portrayed the Saarbrücken chief inspector between 2013 and 2018.

Striesow is a two-time winner of the German Film Award and the recipient of numerous other honors.

In the Netflix production All Quiet on the Western Front, released in autumn 2022, Striesow appeared as General Friedrich. The film entered the Oscar race as Germany's official submission and received four awards in addition to nine nominations.
