Nikolai Peter Tunkowitsch
Biography.
Born in Vienna in 1985, Nikolai Tunkowitsch was accepted into the University of Music and Performing Arts at the age of 15 and completed his Matura at the Musikgymnasium Vienna. After gaining his first stage experience at the Wiener Lustspielhaus, he received engagements at Vienna's Burgtheater and the Theater in der Josefstadt. Since 2008 he has been a member of Musicbanda Franui, with whom he has given numerous concerts in Austria and abroad.
Other bands include the Neuen Wiener Concert Schrammeln and the band Mischwerk. Engagements have taken him to the Bregenz Festival, Konzerthaus Wien, Porgy & Bess, Konzerthaus Berlin, Philharmonie Luxembourg, Glatt & Verkehrt in Krems, Radiokulturhaus Wien, the "Nuits de Fourviere" festival in Lyon, Tiroler Festspiele Erl, Staatsoper Berlin, Schauspielhaus Zürich, Philharmonie Köln, Muziekgebouw Amsterdam, and Philharmonie de Paris.
In December 2020 he successfully passed the journeyman's exam in violin making. He completed a varnishing course with Francois Perego in Dinan (France) and, in 2021, an additional course with Iris Carr (UK).
